This message is for you, the heartbeat of the How To Be Social community. You’ve been part of something truly original—something that belongs to all of us. When I (a.k.a. @HannahJewelClark, or more famously known as Jewels, the Creator of @TheJemsUniverse) started this journey eight years ago, it was with one goal in mind: to keep my creative friends connected, creating, and educated—supporting one another while thriving individually.
Back then, it was just a small blog inspired by my mom teaching me how to be social. Since then,
I’ve earned a degree in PR and journalism with a minor in world studies, a master’s in psychology, and wrote some of the most-read articles during my time at D Magazine and Dallas Observer.

What started as a blog has transformed into so much more. We’ve grown from events with brands like Bumble, WeWork, and Virgin Hotels to becoming a creative agency, collective, and now a coalition that empowers artists to become creative entrepreneurs.
Today, we operate in six ways:

1️⃣ Educational materials like our book Starving Artist to Creative Entrepreneur (Mark Cuban even gave us a quote!) with the sequel Creative Entrepreneur to Art Investor in the works.
2️⃣ Booking our official 12 artists (featured on our website), and I’m happy to report that every single artist has been booked at least once in 2025.
3️⃣ The Vault—a studio in Old East Dallas for intimate events, photoshoots, and music recordings.
We’ve worked with hundreds of artists and built this community to be a place where you can thrive. I personally know 80% of you here, and the rest were brought in by mutuals in the group.
So here’s a reminder: this group was created for YOU. Use it to connect, create, and grow. Even when I can’t keep up (and that’s okay), I’m proud to see you all creating and thriving.
