Love First: The Heart of How To Be Social

How To Be Social began as a small blog in 2017 during one of the most challenging times in my life. After making a mistake and receiving a DUI, I realized the importance of community and leaning on others. It’s a journey that has come full circle, as now I have incredible friends who always look out for me. Whether it’s making sure I get home safely or cheering me on during life’s wild rides, I’m surrounded by love—and that love fuels everything we do.

Last night’s holiday party was proof of the magic this community creates. The sheer volume of content we captured is overwhelming in the best way possible. I couldn’t sift through it all if I tried, but I’ll be sharing the highlights here. Thanks to Sam Nyguen for picking up the camera!

If you were there, please feel free to tag us as collaborators on your posts! We’ll make sure to amplify them on our feed because this is what How To Be Social is all about—community.

Love at the Center

One thing I kept saying last night was this: When love is at the center, problems and obstacles become opportunities for growth. That philosophy has transformed my life. It feels like God himself has kissed my forehead and whispered, “You can do it.” And honestly, with this community by my side, I feel like I can.

Everything shifted when I started focusing on family. Family isn’t perfect—it never is—but it grounds you. It reminds you of your roots, your values, and your purpose. I’ve been holding onto the phrase “grow where you’re planted.” We’re all placed on this earth for a reason, and even in the hardest circumstances, there’s always an opportunity for good to come from your life.

The Good in Everyone

Every single person has good in them. When you focus on that good, you’ll find more of it in your life. That’s the energy we’re creating here. Last night’s celebration was a testament to the power of connection, love, and community. To our coalition members, guests, and everyone who has shown up for us this year: You mean the world to me. Thank you for pouring your energy, creativity, and joy into this space.

What’s Next

We’re wrapping up the year with two incredible events, and I hope to see all of you there!

  • Say Less Music Fest 21st

  • Sell Outs on December 28th

  • Ego Driven and the The King’s Realm on December 29th

These are our last 4 events of the year, and we’re going all out to make them unforgettable.

Thank you for being part of this journey and this family. Let’s continue putting love first—together.

With all my heart,

Jewels. ♥️
